Spondylosis deformans

Spondylosis is a non-inflammatory process associated with degeneration of the annulus fibrosis of the intervertebral disc, in which bony spurs or bridges between adjacent vertebrae are formed.

From AVOM viewpoint, the bridging is an attempt to compensate for vertebral instability and misalignment. By correcting the vertebral misalignment, spondylosis is made redundant. There is anecdotal evidence that spondylosis is a reversible process, which means that the spurs and bones visible on radiographies, may disappear on the long-term after AVOM treatment.
