Homeopathy

Alternative medicine system which makes use of extreme dilutions of substances that cause the same symptoms as the disease that is to be treated. In the preparation of a homeopathic agent, a substance of mineral, vegetable or animal origin is diluted according to a fixed protocol diluted (potentiation) to an undetectable fraction. There is no scientific or logical basis for the principles and effectiveness of homeopathy. Clinical studies have demonstrated the placebo effect as the sole cause of the apparent efficacy of homeopathic treatments.

AVOM regards homeopathy as alternative medicine. If desired by a client, we recommend consultation with a classical homeopathic veterinarian.
