Surgical technique that removes part of the lamina of the vertebral arch in order to reduce the pressure on the spinal cord and/or nerve root. There are several approaches. Surgical decompression of the lumbosacral region is usually done via dorsal laminectomy.
In AVOM a patient is referred for spinal surgery if indicated.
